Trip, Slip, and Fall Prevention

The Work Environment

Author: Marletta, W.
Year: 1991
Type: Book Section

Abstract:

This chapter is intended for safety practitioners to make them aware of the causes of slip, trip and fall accidents so that a slip, trip and fall prevention program can be formulated. Major contributing structures such as floor surfaces, stairs, ramps and ladders and the effects of foreign substances are reviewed. To prevent or lower the likelihood of slipping, specific paints and coatings, slip meters and friction testers have been developed for use on floors and decks.
