Abstract:

In a hospital or nursing home despite patient's rights documents, guest relations programs and homely decor schemes the institution does not belong to the patient. The complexities of institutional systems coupled with the use of high technology life-saving treatments continue to place control of the patient in the hands of the caregivers, whereas in the home environment, control is in the hands of the patient and the family. Providing home care may mean that the caregiver has to learn to live with or practice in an environment that does not meet standards .
