Theories in Environmental Psychology

Environmental Psychology: An Interdisciplinary Perspective.

Author: Veitch, R., Arkkelin, D.
Year: 1995
Type: Book Section

Abstract:

Several mini-theories for conceptualising the interrelationships of humans and their environments are presented. Among these approaches are the arousal approach, behavioural constraint theories, adaptation-level theory, the environmental stress approach and Barker's ecological model. Each of these approaches is briefly described and evaluated and found to be able to handle some but not all of the available data.
