The National Falls Prevention for Older People Initiative Forum organised by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care, has been told by a variety of health professionals and practitioners, involved largely in aged care, that with increased life expectancy has come a greater risk and incidence of serious falls among Australia's elderly. It was a special two-day forum in Canberra has heard further evidence that the prevalence and risk of serious injury from falls among older Australians is higher now than at anytime in the past several decades.
