Abstract:

Several technological advances are making possible unobtrusive monitoring of people in their homes. The main benefit of introducing these technologies into aged care is to enable individuals to maintain an independent lifestyle. An added benefit is the substantial dollar savings.CSIRO is developing the "Hospital Without Walls" - a continuous monitoring system of vital signs which has minimal negative impact on lifestyle.
