Abstract:

An exploration of the growing effort to limit health services to the aged in the US, drawing on Daniel Callahan's Setting Limits: Medical Goals in an Aging Society (New York: Simon & Schuster, 1987). His three-part plan to limit health care is summarized, & the implications for society are discussed, including the quest for, and view of a just society, the future as a moral community, & the impact on practice for helping professionals. Action is urged to address the moral consequences of such a plan. .
