Slip resistance of decks

Guideline

Author: BRANZ,
Year: 2000
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

If access from the street to the main entry of the house is across a deck, BRANZ (Building Research Association of New Zealand) recommends that the access route should have a slip reistance of 0.4 when wet. This is to comply with D1/AS1 which is the Acceptable Solution to the New Zealand Building Code clause D1 Access Routes. This short article also discusses shrinkage control in smaller slabs where the length to width ratio is greater than 2:1.
