The Consumer Assessment Study is a continuation of the RERC Aging study. The study's purpose is to continue to carefully document the needs and complex issues and problems with the use of assistive technology - as experienced and reported by consumers and their caregivers. Another purpose is to continue to identify problems with existing devices to guide device modifications and the development of new assistive devices. Another is to extend the longitudinal perspective on the needs of older persons with disabilities and their caregivers. In addition it expands the current focus on home-based older persons to include individuals in nursing home and adult care settings. Another purpose is the work of the RRTC-Aging with SCI on studying the AT needs of persons aging with a disability. The final purpose is to maintain a sample pool of volunteer participants for other RERC-Aging projects
