Presentations: 1. Unlimited by Design; 2. Visitability - The -State -of- the -Art; 3. Curriculum Models Project [electronic resource]

Author: RERC on Universal Design at Buffalo,
Year: 2000
Type: Audiovisual Material

Abstract:

The first of the three presentations is a Power Point presentation based on the exhibition "Unlimited By Design", conceived and organised by the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution and was presented there in 1999. It describes the travelling exhibit which is a collection of 200 functional objects centering on universal design. The Visitability, the State of the Art presentation discusses inaccessible homes and the use of standards to create opportunities for inclusion rather than multiplying barriers to access. Curriculum Models Project is aimed at increasing awareness of universal design in university wide general education curricula and to develop understanding and technical knowledge of design for students in professional programs in design and related fields.
