Make them go away: Clint Eastwood, Christopher Reeve and the case against disability rights

Author: Johnson, M.
Year: 2003
Type: Book

Abstract:

The subject of this book is disability rights and investigates media reports into the cases of two high profile actors. The first case study concerns Clint Eastwood who fought against making his Mission Ranch hotel compliant with the American Disabilities Act. The second study examines the disability of Christopher Reeves and his negative statements about disability in society. Johnson’s overall argument is that universal design benefits everyone, not just people with disabilities.
