Abstract:

This article provides a table of typical slip resistance values for common exterior surfaces.Slip resistance in buildings is often not given the priority it needs for safety and Building Code compliance. One of the objectives of the New Zealand Building Code Clause D1 'Access routes' is that paths, stairs, ramps and entries be provided with adequate slip resistance to safeguard people from injury.
