Getting it right: housing design for an ageing society in a changing world

Housing Science

Author: Harrison, J. D., Parker, K. J.
Year: 1998
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

This paper looks at housing design standards for accessibility and safety; matching of perceived needs, as interpreted by designers, with real needs of end users. The authors compare European standards and the potential of evolving Asian initiatives. The needs of increased standards of housing for the elderly and a range of alternatives by which elder- friendly housing might be realised in the future are discussed.
