New England Sociologist

Author: Johnson, E. S.
Type: Journal Article
Year: 1980

Abstract:

Described is the development & implementation of a program focusing on communication problems between adults & their elderly parents. Problems of finding financial support, competent staff, appropriate physical facilities (ie, workshop space), & suitable publicity techniques are described; in addition, the importance of a sound knowledge of the field under study, & the significance of mechanical details, eg, scheduling, are stressed. The research project was carried out before the publication of topical works such as You and Your Aging Parent (Silverstone, Barbara & Hyman, Helen K., New York: Pantheon, 1976) & Caring for Your Aged Parents (Grollman, Earl A. & Grollman, Sharon Hya, Boston: Beacon Press, 1978).
