Environmental cognition and age-related sensory change.

Occupational therapy practice: models of cognitive function.

Author: Christenson, M. A., Raschko, B.
Year: 1989
Type: Book Section

Abstract:

The therapists understanding of the sensory changes that affect way-finding capabilities is strengthened by the literature on environmental cognition. Wayfinding skills can be maximised by incorporating specific modifications for these sensory diminuitions. By creating designs that compensate for age-realted sensory changes, the physical environment can become a significant component of a well-conceived treatment program.
