This study involved a biomechanical analysis of the sit-to-stand transfer with the assistance of a grabrail. The aim of this study was to use biomedical research to enhance the scientific base for grabrail prescription. Nine women aged over 69 were the subjects. They performed three conditions of movement:sit-to-stand unaided, sit-to-stand grasping the rail at their preferred height, and sit-to-stand grasping the rail at the height of their greater trochanter. Data were collected and analysed using the Expert Vision motion analysis system.
