Ecology and Aging: A Critical Review

Canadian Journal on Aging/La Revue Canadienne du Vieillissement

Author: Bernardin-Haldemann, V.
Year: 1988
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

The issue of housing for the aged in Canada is examined using ecological models. Models of adaptation to the environment show that happiness can be found at different states of equilibrium between the person & the environment, & that the elderly exhibit a docility toward the environment that is linked to aging, but appears to be historically & socially contingent rather than natural. Gerontological studies on social policies are reviewed.
