Covers the purpose of doors, the needs of people versus design constraints ie. most people can apply a force 20-30 N but keeping a door shut against wind may require 60 N. Issues of technology, in door closure and door furniture are covered as is revolving doors, security door, fire doors and historic buildings. Design and specifications of doors are becoming more complicated as new construction technologies, control mechanisms and security mechanisms become available.
