Abstract:

Goodley draws on a range of interdisciplinary areas to address the most critical issues in disability theory. The text is divided into two sections; the first is titled ‘Finding dis/ability studies’ and focuses on the dual process of ableism and disablism, justifying the need for an in-depth analysis of dis/ability. The second part of the text applies the dis/ability framework to a range of critical topics, including ‘Precarious bodies: the biopolitics of dis/ability and debility’ and ‘The psychopathology or the normals: why people are so messed up around dis/ability’, under the main heading ‘Exemplifying dis/ability studies’.
