Abstract:

This paper outlines some options for the development of the Kobe Centre's programme of research on health expectances for older people. The programmes’ broad aims are to contribute scientific knowledge on health expectances, to inform policy options for addressing them, and perhaps most importantly to build relationships between knowledge and action. The suggestions are intended to introduce discussion and it is expectant that the work programme will develop further than the meeting himself. The paper presents some illustrations of research approaches and findings from recent Australian work and other examples from recent international literature.
