Continuing care retirement communities' response to residents aging in place

Journal of Housing for the Elderly

Author: Bowers, B. J.
Year: 1989
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

Though many administrators of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) continue to insist that their facilities are for independent residents only, it is argued that their resident populations are becoming older & frailer, aging-in-place. Survey data obtained from corporate executive officers at 19 CCRCs in Wisconsin are drawn on to explore the changing characteristics of these resident populations, & how facilities are responding to these.
