Comparative perspectives on housing, aging and social structure.

Handbook of Aging

Author: Kendig, H. L.
Year: 1990
Type: Book Section

Abstract:

This chapter develops a social-structure interpretation of housing over the life course. It briefly reviews alternative interpretations and literatures, the emphasis being on relating research findings on housing of older persons to concepts of life-span progression, social change, political economy, and distributive justice. Housing tenure and housing related policies are shown to have significant effects on living standards and accumulation of wealth.
