Abstract:

CHILDATA is a collection of anthropometric, strength, performance and psychological data on children and represents the most comprehensive and up to date collection of ergonomics data for use in the design of children's products. It contains data on children aged from birth to 18 years from around the world. There are data on 147 anthropometric measurements from a number of key countries, all assessed for validity; strength measurements such as hand and finger strength, pushing and pulling; performance data such as the ability to climb fences, open bottle tops and open windows; and psychological measurements such as the understanding of safety symbols and colour.
