This article reports the findings of a randomized controlled trial to examine the effects of a way-finding intervention on 4 nursing home residents ability to find their way in a new environment. The intervention consisted of the use of a location map and a behavioural training technique, which was provided to the residents over the course of a month. Results indicated that the controlled group demonstarted an increased ability to find their way to the dinining room one week after the intervention. The intervention effect was not sustained three months later.
