Abstract:

This book covers alterations and adaptations to existing non-residential buildings to provide improved access for people with disabilities and those whose mobility is otherwise impaired. It provides good practice guidance on strategic and detailed design considerations to provide effective solutions with maximum benefit, illustrated by examples drawn from case studies. The chapters are arranged in relation to a sequential journey into, through and out of a building including emergency evacuation.
