Abstract:

According to the ABS (1998) there were 355,500 people with a disability in Western Australia. This accounts for 19.5% of the total population. The number of people with a disability in WA is expected to rise to 564,900 by the year 2021, an increase of almost 60%. The main type of disability in WA is physical disability which affects 69% of people with a disability. This 77 page document provides information on best practice for builders and developers for the provision of access to people with disabilities.
