Building Regulations 2000: The Approved Documents

Author: Office Of The Deputy Prime Minister (U.K.),
Year: 2004
Type: Report

Abstract:

The main purpose of the Regulations is to ensure the health and safety of people in or about buildings. They are also concerned with energy conservation and with making buildings more convenient and accessible for people with disabilities. The Regulations, themselves, consist of only 27 pages (Statutory Instrument 2000 No. 2531) with six parts and three schedules. The first six parts, deal with the commencement, scope and interpretation of the Regulations. They describe the various methods of applying for Building Regulation approval and the notices and certificates used. The three schedules provide the technical requirements of the Regulations; define exempt buildings and list the earlier Regulations which are revoked.
