Author: Kochera, A., Straight, A., Guterbock, T.
Year: 2005
Type: Book

Abstract:

This report explores the connections between a livable community and community engagement among its residents and shows how both affect "successful ageing' of its residents. It looks at how people age 50 and older can continue to be independent and able to exercise choice and control in ways that are beneficial to and affordable for them and society. Includes six major recommendations for social change, followed by a set of policy implications that can help the nation move towards the goal of livable communities for persons of all ages and abilities.
