This booklet is a guide for assisting in the management of the physical environment for people with disabilities. This guide includes information on: the Australian Building Codes Board, Standards Australia and the role of the access standards, non-discriminatory access, an accessibility checklist , Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and contact details of relevant organisations. There are many parts of the built environment that can pose a hazard to people with disabilities. Improving access for them also improves access for the rest of the community.
