Barrier-free environments

Author: Bednar, M. J.
Year: 1977
Type: Book

Abstract:

This book includes a lot of great photographs and diagrams of handicap accessible buildings. It not only includes pictures of ideal environments, but it shows the opposite many times. These photographs are annotated and labeled. This collection of papers has been gathered together in order to establish an overall philosophical direction that would aid in coordinating various research, planning, design, administrative, and legislative efforts. With a focus on the larger issues of developing communities, the discussions raised in 1977 are still relevant today. Readers will find interesting chapters - Pedestrian mobility : the accessible city; the Fokus housing system - drawings, photographs, and plans. It is a good theoretical text for instruction on access to the built environment.
