Areas Of Rescue Assistance: ADAAG 4.3.11

The Americans With Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines Tech Sheet Series

Author: Barrier Free Environments Inc,
Year: 1994
Type: Book

Abstract:

This Tech Sheet is part of a series of publications on the design requirements of the ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). This issue provides scope and design information on the requirements for areas of rescue assistance. Egress and life safety during an emergency are major concerns for all building occupants. People who have difficulty using stairs or who use wheelchairs or scooters do not have the same access to a safe means of exiting a building as people who can climb stairs. Although the information in this sheet is based on the ADAAG requirements, it is advisory and should be considered as supplemental to the ADAAG
