An integrated employee assistance program response to ageing issues

Ageing International

Author: Ensign, D. A.
Type: Journal Article
Year: 1996

Abstract:

The impact of the aging population on employees & businesses is examined, noting that, as the population ages, increasing numbers of employees will have elder care responsibilities that place demands on their time, which will lead to lower productivity & increased absenteeism & resignations. Ways that employee assistance programs, work/family programs, & community service providers may help alleviate this situation are discussed. The elder care program offered by the Employee Advisory Resource established by Control Data Corp in 1974 is described & two case studies are presented to illustrate the program's functioning. The elder care program emphasizes proactive measures & assists clients in resolving elder care issues.
