Sketches goals related to expanding the content & impact of the Journal of Health & Social Behavior, including increasing the number of authors & readers interested in population & aging, developing forums for communication (eg, letters & review essays), offering Internet services, & publishing scientific findings in a usable form & language. Four topics likely to be a focus of future journal issues are overviewed: population aging, health inequalities in relation to the life course, growing mother & child impoverishment, & the obesity epidemic.
