An exploratory study of black female attitudes toward the elderly

Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

Scale data were obtained from 41 black female (F) undergraduates at a small liberal arts college to examine their attitudes toward aging & the elderly. Splitting the sample into those ages 18-24 (traditional) & 25+ (nontraditional), it was found that traditional respondents tended to hold more positive attitudes toward the elderly. Findings suggest, however, that it is difficult to predict the impact of positive or negative attitudes on the provision of adequate services for the elderly.
