A report prepared by the American Society of Allied Health Professions' National Task Force on Gerontology & Geriatric Care Education in Allied Health in 1987. Implications of an aging society for health care needs are discussed, with attention to public policy, health care financing, moral & ethical matters, patterns of health care practice, consumer/family education, support for informal caregivers, & the development of a research agenda. Allied health care practice & education are examined, & areas of major commonalities across allied health professions identified.
