Author: Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board,
Year: 2000
Type: Web Page

Abstract:

The U.S. Access Board has issued final accessibility guidelines for playgrounds under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Final Rule covers new construction and alterations to playgrounds. The guidelines include scoping and technical provisions for ground level and elevated play components, accessible routes, ramps and transfer systems, ground surfaces, and soft contained play structures. The next step in the rulemaking process is for the U.S. Department of Justice to adopt the final rule as enforcable standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
