Families in Society

Author: Ivry, J.
Year: 1995
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

Discusses the role of social work in creating supportive housing environments for the elderly as they age in place, ie, the phenomenon of elderly persons remaining in their communities despite increasing frailty. Social workers can encourage aged residents to accept & receive services that will enable them to live independently despite diminishing capacities. In addition, they can collaborate with housing managers to create responsive housing environments for their elderly tenants.
