Aging, disability and the home-care revolution

Archives of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Author: Zola, I.K.

Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

People who are aging and people who have disabilities have traditionally been split into two opposing camps by providers of service and often by themselves. Aging and disability have been thought to be two separate human conditions. Social as well as therapeutic advances have resulted in the two becoming increasingly interwined with important implications for health policy. This paper traces some aspects of this interwining and examines how it plays itself out in regard to at-home care.
