Abstract:

This chapter charts the range of policies that influence housing in old age and examines the political processes of ideologies which have shaped them. A coherent housing policy for older people does not exist yet all levels of government have extensive and interrelated impacts on the housing people bring to their old age. The challenge is to ensure that the housing of diverse groups of older people is taken into account in a number of areas of policy development.
