Adaptable housing: better homes for everyone.

Technical Aid To The Disabled Journal

Author: Pratt, R.
Year: 1996
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

The author has written an overview of the philosophy that adaptable housing design is good design for everyone, providing for "whole of life" housing. Older people, people who acquire a disability (temporary or permanent), or families with a disabled child can remain in their homes, maintaining their relations with the community. If a home does need to be modified, renovations can be carried out with minimal disruption and cost.
