Abstract:

This design guide was developed to assist public works and transportation agencies covered by title ll of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), design and construct public sidewalks and street crossings, and to improve existing pedestrian facilities to be more usable by pedestrians with disabilities. Part 1 contains an overview of ADA title II obligations. Part ll contains best practices recommendations for the design, construction and alteration of public pedestrian facilities to achieve a more consistent approach to the design of accessible rights-of-way features.
