Abstract:

This information pack includes an access audit guide and checklists for designing public buildings for people with disabilities. The guide describes how to carry out an access audit. The checklists comprise a series of loose sheets, each sheet dealing with one element of the building or its setting. The general order is : approaching the building; entering it; moving around inside and using its facilities; and finally a record of the findings. It is recommened that the audit is carried out in this order. A useful guide for architects, interior designers, building managers and health and safety officers.
