Abstract:

The recreation facility guidelines are a supplement to The Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). The ADAAG is the standard applied to buildings and facilities. Recreational facilities, including Sports facilities are among the facilities required to comply with The Americans with Disabilities Act. These guidelines establish minimum accessibiliy requirements for newly constructed and altered sports facilities. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that individuals with disabilities are generally able to access the sports facilities and elements such as the exercise equipment, bowling lanes, shooting facilities,swimming pools, spas, boating facilities and golf courses.
