Karl Marx's theories of the nature of man in a capitalist society & of alienation are applied in a case study of how one social service agency serves an elderly population via an enriched housing program. Focus is on how the program either helps to eliminate or contributes to the experience of isolation for these individuals. An examination of older adults' experiences of isolation from family, society, & their own identity in the face of illness & aging is offered.
