Historically aged care has predominately been delivered via clinical and hospital style models. These generally focus on a person’s illness or dysfunction, and are not conductive towards independence.
In response to this wellness and reablement models of care are becoming more recognised. Supported by an emerging body of evidence, this approach has been shown to improve function, cognition, independence and quality of life for older people.
