USA: RERC-UD State of the Science Conference: Increasing Adoption of Universal Design in the Building Industry

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Universal Design and the Built Environment (RERC-UD), funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, U.S. Dept. of Education, has been exploring strategies for increasing adoption through the launch of a commitment program. Models have included the successful LEED program, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Energy Star program, developed by the U.S. Department of Energy.

This one day invitational conference will bring together a group of experts in universal design and stakeholder groups to review our proposals and provide recommendations for launching the program during the next 12 months.
