In NSW 1 in 10 people are carers. Many of us will either become a carer or need care ourselves. You may know someone who is a carer. Carers are our family members, friends, work colleagues and neighbours. They are ordinary people who are providing ongoing, unpaid help to someone because of disability, mental illness, chronic illness, dementia or frail age.
We would appreciate some help with supporting carers of your clients during Carers Week in the following ways:
The Care for a Carer campaign features eight people who receive help from their carers with anything from showering and getting dressed to social and emotional support. The campaign addresses the need for carers to have help for themselves. Often these carers are family members with no one else to help them.
