Published

We are entering a time where Australians are living longer and as a result our elderly population is also increasing. Life expectasncy rates have increased from 82.8 years in 2001-3 to 84.3 years for women and 77.8 years to 79.9 years for men for the same period. (ABS, 2014)

According to reserach collected in 2012 by the Physical Disability Council of NSW Inc. (PDCN) 60 percent of Australians with diability as well as 42 percent of elderly people in Australia require assistance with at least one activity due to their disability or age.

PDCN has released a comparative report regarding the information collected during state wide surveys conducted 2009 - 2011 and a new survey conducted in 2014 with a comprehensive guide into understanding the everyday lives of people living in NSW with a physical disability, aged over 50 years.
