The Australian Human Rights Commission wants greater inclusion for the 4 million Australians with disability.

Published

Age and Disability Discrimination Commissioner, Susan Ryan, stated that "the Australian Human Rights Commission is currently working with the NSW Government in helping staff understand the benefits of including more people with disability in their teams and in the work they do”...“We are also assisting the Australian Government and the Australian Public Service in their efforts to ensure that the procurement of information and communication technology is accessible to people with disability. A lack of accessibility denies many Australians the opportunity to engage with and access public services, including as employees”.

The Commission is now half way into National Inquiry into Discrimination Against Older Australians and Australians with Disability. We have undertaken 114 consultations around the nation, and met with 1,081 individuals and received close to 200 submissions. The report is due mid 2016.
