Throughout the year Safe Work Australia are releasing Codes of Practice (CoP) to support the new WHS Act and Regulations. CoPs are admissible in court proceedings and following them helps to evidence compliance with regulations.
11 CoPs have been endorsed for use in New South Wales and are available on the WorkCover website. For instance in home modifications when working on houses built prior to 1990 it is imporatnt to be aware that all work needs to comply with asbestos management guidelines and this needs to consider the health of occupants as well as workers.
There are of course many other relevant CoP's such as those related to electricity and roofing but information related to working with asbestos is listed below:
