The Henry Halloran Trust, University of Sydney, has published a report titled Communities of Practice: Getting to the Heart of Workplace Learning, Sharing and Innovation.
The report explores the merits in establishing 'communities of practice' for practitioners working in fields of housing, planning or community development. The author is specifically interested in the link between literature and practice, and how practical solutions can be achieved through an informed and scholarly approach.
The Home Modifications Clearinghouse Website is discussed a ‘gold standard’ example of a ‘mature and thriving community of practice’ in the disability home modifications industry. The author stresses the importance of evidence-based research as the backbone to the website, and how it is disseminated to practitioners and consumers in a way that is approachable and easily accessed.
